what is html5?
HTML, the Hyper Text Mark-up Language, is what is used to create web pages (content). It consists of a set of Tags that can be used in the construction of a web page.

Over the years, the web technology landscape has evolved. Web content is targeted for a variety of devices, not just desktops. New technologies such as CSS offer a more flexible, versatile approach to presenting content on a web page. A number of visual design patterns and behavioural patterns have been identified. These would require code to be written explicitly and repeatedly. Different browsers handle an error condition differently. Any way to extend the built-in HTML capability is possible only by way of creating plug-ins. These plug-ins are treated differently by different browsers.

HTML5 is the next generation of the HTML specification that takes into consideration the observations mentiond above. HTML5 does not enjoy full support by all browsers for all the features in the specification. HTML5 helps boosts the productivity, Eliminates obsolete HTML tags, encourages the use of more efficient approaches using CSS. Provides API that can be invoked from with in Javascript. Provides mechanisms to ensure that all browsers handle error conditions in a consistent manner.

This tutorial is an attempt to introduce you to the new HTML elements that are added in the new HTML5 specification. This tutorial contains live examples with code.
